Smart Reorder FAQ

The page says "Syncing sales history". How long does it take?

The app loads your last 90 days of orders in the background. It takes from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on how many orders you have. Recommendations appear about 15 minutes after the sync is complete. You don't need to keep the page open.

Why is a product I just ordered still "Need to order"?

The recommendations are from the last calculation. Click Recalculate: the quantities on your open purchase orders (Pending, Confirmed, Transferring) count as Incoming.

Smart Reorder orders what you'll sell until your next order arrives (lead time + order cycle + safety stock), and uses max stock only as a ceiling. If you want bigger orders, raise the order cycle (on the supplier or in Settings > Smart Reorder), or the safety stock. See How recommendations are calculated.

My min/max stock isn't used. Why?

Check that:

  • Use min/max stock from Locations is Yes in Settings > Smart Reorder.
  • The min/max is set for All Locations in Inventory > Stock In Locations. Min/max set for a single location, or the defaults of Auto-create PO, aren't used.

Why does a product show "—" as unit cost?

There's no supplier price for it, and its Shopify cost can't be used because the supplier works in another currency than your shop. Smart Reorder never converts currencies. Add the price to the supplier's product list.

Why was this supplier picked?

Click Why? on the row: the Why this supplier? section tells you. To choose a supplier yourself, create a purchase order for that supplier once (the most recent PO's supplier is preferred), or give the suppliers prices (the cheapest is picked).

A product that sells well shows "No sales"

It had no sales in the last 90 days in the app's sales history. Products that aren't tracked in Shopify (inventory not tracked) aren't included at all.

The page says "Stock history is still being collected"

The app needs about 30 days of nightly stock snapshots to know which days a product was out of stock. Until then, products that ran out recently may get a sales speed a bit lower than real. Recommendations are still shown.

Does Smart Reorder change anything by itself?

No. It only recommends. Purchase orders are created only when you click Create PO and Confirm, and they're created as Pending so you can review them before sending.

Is Smart Reorder the same as Auto-create PO?

No. Auto-create PO creates purchase orders automatically when stock drops below min stock, ordering up to max stock. Smart Reorder uses your sales speed, lead times and stock on order, and lets you decide what to order. POs created from Smart Reorder are never changed by Auto-create PO.
